The highest rated over the counter fish oil supplement costs roughly .29 cents per capsule, which at 6 capsules per day would cost you $1.74. If you want to pay 3 times as much per day in order to receive exactly the same benefits then be my guest, but it doesn’t make much sense.
Of course, most health insurance will probably pay the bulk of the price for prescription fish oil, but depending on what your co-pay is it might just be easier to pick up the bottle of DHA omega 3 fish oil that sells for $16.85 a bottle. Then you wouldn’t have to go through the hassle of picking up prescriptions, and waiting for them to be filled.
My conclusion, prescription fish oil is not all that it is being made out to be anyway.
