Have you noticed the way mothers always tell their kids not to slouch?

This is correct because not only does good posture make you look better, it is also good for your bones and overall health. Look at the following reasons necessary to maintain the proper positions when standing, sitting or walking.

‘Why should you have good posture?’

Standing, sitting and walking tall does not only benefit your overall look, but it also contributes to your health.

Try to picture what happens to your bones when you slouch. If you are accustomed to sitting with a curved back, more weight is applied to your spinal cord and this may attribute to problems with your bones when you grow older.

Poor posture will make you appear shorter than your actual height; so use some effort and time to correct your posture and improve your appearance.

‘Correcting your Stance’

Spending some time to correct your posture should not be torture.

First, you should feel comfortable and relaxed when are in a proper position while sitting, standing or walking. Second, this will make you more alert and have a better disposition.

Here are some ways you can determine whether your posture is correct or not:

When sitting or standing, your spine should be in an almost straight line – from your head to the bottom part of your back.

To determine if you have a straight back, you can relax until your back finds its normal upright position. Your chin should be parallel to the floor, and your head aligned with the sky.

When sitting, your shoulders must be parallel to the floor and not leaning toward either to the left or right.

When walking, the knees should be in a central position. Keep them relaxed and not locked forward or backwards.

The most common posture problem is having a slouched chest or back.

You may have noticed that people with heart problems often have a slouched back. This is because their heart and lungs cannot properly support the chest, resulting in improper posture. To correct a slouched or hunched chest, make certain that your chest is slightly uplifted and centered.

The spinal column does not form a perfectly straight line; instead there is a slight curve in the middle. If your back is extremely curved, then you have imperfect posture.

Try to find a balance; relax and let your back form an almost straight line.

Having good posture does not only improve your appearance: it also lightens your movements, improves your health, and adds to your total well-being.

Why is it that people always seem to discuss maternity fashion, but not post-pregnancy fashion styles. The focus is all on how to breastfeed, eating healthily, getting fit, and weight gain during pregnancy, all very important issues I know, but I think that if you look good on the outside, then you feel good on the inside, which makes that just as important.

You may be feeling a little betrayed by your body for not reforming to your pre-pregnancy weight and shape. Some parts of your body may have gotten bigger and other parts a little smaller, whilst other sections have become saggy and droopy.

You may get to the point where you get a touch of mirror madness (the avoidance of mirrors at all costs: – )

It’s not surprising that some new mum’s just feel like giving up and staying indoors, but hey girl, you can’t do that, it’s your duty to show off your beautiful baby to the world. After what you went through to get your new addition, we simply can’t allow it.

So, it’s time for your mummy makeover.

Stand naked in front of a mirror, have a good look and hone in on the assets that your pregnancy has left you with. You may discover that you have inherited a few sexy curves along the way, or bigger breasts that will create a cleavage to be proud of.

V-neck tops will show off this beautiful new asset and help take attention away from your mummy tummy.

EMPIRE WAIST tops and dresses (high waistline just under your boobs) are also great at this time. Just like the V-neck, they will also accentuate your chest area and take attention away from your post-pregnancy tummy, but this style does not fit snugly around your middle and will inspire you to have more confidence in yourself.

If your hips have become fuller, I would suggest that you avoid trousers, skirts or coats with bulky side pockets as this will make the hips look bigger.

Don’t cover your body up with baggy clothing, but do dress for comfort as well as style.

The Kombucha or Manchurian “mushroom” is widely used to boost the immune system. The name is kinda misleading because it is not a mushroom at all. It is a flat like, pancake shaped combination of health-promoting lichen, richly beneficial bacteria and yeast that has been used in Asia as a natural energy booster for a very long time.

Kombucha is not eaten, but is brewed into a strong antiviral and antibacterial tea after it has been left to ferment for a week or more in a mixture of spring or filtered water, organic sugar, and organic green or black tea.Kombucha Tea is widely used to help fight immune related disease and greatly helps to boost the immune system to fight swine flu, fight influenza and other viruses with out any ill effects.

Not all Kombucha is created equal. Look for Organic Raw or Organic Unpasteurized Kombucha Tea which is in the refrigeration section the store. I make tea at home both plain and flavored which is very inexpensive. I also buy the GTS Synergy brand Kombucha Tea which is high quality, Raw, and come in flavors as well.

Dosage Well I drink Kombucha daily for about a year now and I tend to drink about a wine glass size 3 times a day before or at meals. If you have never had this tea, It is best to start out with about 2oz day for a week then increase to 2oz a day 3 times a day for about another week or so. After that drink it as much as you like but its best to divided up you Kombucha consumption throughout the day.

It is not recommended to give children under 13 years old Kombucha Tea. Not enough study has been done to determine whether or not this tea is safe for pregnant or nursing mothers.

There are some many health benefits to drinking Kombucha tea. Not to mention it is a very tasty and refreshing drink. Go to fight swine flu and influenza naturally, now to find out more ways on treating and preventing influenza. and swine flu.

The answer to the question can vary from search to search, but let’s look at what it is before we decide on what dose is right.

Milk thistle products are made from the seeds inside it. They contain silymarin, which is a bioflavonoid complex, and which provides most of the health benefits of Milk Thistle. Silibinin, Silidianin, and Silicristin are the three ingredients that make up the silymarin, with Silibinin as the most active part and responsible for the benefits that are attributed to silymarin.

Its use goes back as far as 2,000 years ago. Early physicians used it for snakebite and jaundice, and for promoting the production of milk in nursing mothers. What it does is help patients with cirrhosis of the liver, although the studies on that are mostly inconclusive, some for, some against, leaning more to the fact that it helps with liver impairments, and aids with livers that aren’t to the point of cirrhosis yet.

It’s used to treat hepatitis, some diabetes, and for treating the gallbladder, pancreas, and stomach disorders. Other claims are helping with psoriasis, eczema, wounds and sores, and skin burns.

The truth is, a recommended daily allowance has yet to be determined, although some experts will recommend a dose of 1-4 grams of the dried fruit, which are the seeds, per day. Some patients take a ‘protective’ dose of 120 mg of silymarin a day. For live disease about 420 mg of silymarin is the going dose, and it’s best to get milk thistle that contains around a 70-80% silymarin content.

Now you have to know what form to take it in, and some precautions against foul-ups. Dried milk thistle can be found most generally in a capsule form. Extracts and tinctures are usually found in health stores. The seeds can be ground up and made into tea, or just eaten.

Milk thistle has never been reported to have any toxicity. One of the only drawbacks, and this is very mild and even rare, is that, due to the increased flow of bile and secretion, the milk thistle may have a mild laxative effect. The remedy is to take some fiber along with your dose of milk thistle.

Another thing you need to know, is that some medications may not react well with it. Acetaminophen, lovastatin, along with general anesthetics and some chemotherapy medications. Are the health benefits of Milk Thistle something you should consider?

If you want to avoid any fish oil adverse effects, the key is to know exactly what to look for to get the purest one possible. In a flooded marketplace, there are many poor quality oils that could still contain toxins from the fish for example, so here is a guide to lead you to the very best.

There’s no doubt about it, fish oils can have a significant impact on your health and well-being having been proven to lower cholesterol levels, treat arthritis effectively, lower your risk of heart disease and improve your brain health to name a few.

They are generally very safe and the fish oil adverse effects only come from poor quality oil. With oil like this you may experience fishy burps or repeating which can really put you off taking them, especially the kids!

The tell-tale signs are generally a very smelly product using stale or rancid oil, and covering it up with an enteric coating (which is totally unnecessary), flavourings and colouring.

You can always open up a capsule and smell the contents which should have a faint ocean aroma – anything else and it should be avoided.

On the more serious side of things is the matter of molecular distillation. This is the process of separating out the dangerous contaminants like mercury and lead from the oil while still leaving it in its natural state for easy absorption by the body.

Many companies do not do this and put you at risk of long term contamination and it is absolutely essential for pregnant mothers and children to use only a distilled oil.

Many supplements also contain low levels of the essential omega 3 fatty acids DHA and EPA which will give you the health benefits, especially DHA which provides the most.

My advice is to look for a 2:1 ratio of DHA to EPA to ensure you get the most out of them especially as the vast majority available today contain more of the less useful EPA as it’s cheaper to produce.

I hope that now you feel equipped to select only the best supplements and easily avoid any fish oil adverse effects. You will also get much improved health benefits from a pure oil to help you have a longer and healthier life.

Have you been wondering whether fish oil for kids is a good idea? After all, just because it has numerous health benefits for adults doesn’t mean children should take supplements too. But there is good news about fish oil for kids – particularly if they suffer from ADHD.

First of all, recent studies have shown that an increased intake of the omega 3 fatty acids contained in fish oil can be of great benefit to unborn babies and young children. Omega 3s are essential for the growth and development of the brain and eyes in babies.

Taking omega 3s during pregnancy can reduce the risk of having a pre-term baby. Also, the children of mothers who eat the most fish tend to have higher intelligence scores and better communication skills.

So the benefits for mothers and babies are clear but what about fish oil for kids themselves?

It has been known for some time that the most important fatty acid, DHA, helps brains to function and develop properly.

It now seems that children who have low levels of DHA tend to be more likely to suffer from ADHD.

A 2005 Australian study showed that children with diagnosed attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) who took supplements for 15 weeks had increased attention and reduced hyperactivity, restlessness and impulsivity. The children also performed better on attention tests and improved their vocabulary.

A 2007 US study also showed a marked improvement in ADHD children who took omega 3 supplements. In that study, a psychiatrist reported significant improvements in inattention, hyperactivity, oppositional/defiant behavior and conduct disorder.

So it’s clear that fish oil for kids can be helpful as a treatment for hyperactivity, as well as learning ability and general mood.

What about sources of omega3s?

We can’t make omega 3s in our bodies so we must get them from our diet. Fish remains one of the best sources of omega 3s because it has the two most important of these fatty acids, EPA and DHA. Other sources, such as walnuts and flaxseed, contain another fatty acid, ALA, which must be converted by the body into EPA and DHA. The process is not very efficient though, so fish remains the best source of these important fatty acids.

As with adults, children should not be given supplements if there is any known reaction to fish oil, or if they have a bleeding disorder or are taking anti-coagulants.

So, go ahead and give your child fish oil supplements if you feel they could benefit. Fish oil for kids is safe and effective at the right doses and you could be doing your child’s health and behavior a great favor.
