Everyone seems to want to avoid winter weight gain. Here’s how to do just that: -

What are the fish oil adverse effects?  In this article, you will learn about what to expect when you begin taking the supplement and what others have experienced.

It is normally recommended to supplement a person’s dietary intake of omega-3 fatty acids, specifically those known as DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid), because there are very few dietary sources of them.  People that don’t eat seafood, seaweed or marine algae don’t get any.  It’s as simple as that.

Other essential nutrients are available from a wide assortment of foods.  It’s not surprising that people wonder how DHA and EPA could possibly be essential when they are found in only a few sources.  The answer is complicated, but I’ll try to explain.

The human body has the ability to create many essential nutrients, if it is in good health.  For example, it makes the antioxidant coenzyme Q10, as long as there is nothing inhibiting the process, such as cholesterol-lowering statin drugs.

It will also make some nutrients and slow down some bodily functions, when a person’s diet is not optimal.  That’s a throw-back from the time when food shortages were common.  We may be lucky to live in a time when food is plentiful, but maybe not.

The fish oil adverse effects (which I’ll get to in a minute) are nothing compared to the adverse effects of an unhealthy diet.  Obesity, heart disease, emotional disorders, eye diseases, type II diabetes, various kinds of cancer and other ailments are all caused by unhealthy diets, either directly or indirectly.

The human body has the ability to create EPA and DHA from a more common omega-3 called ALA, which is found in many vegetable oils and animal fat.  For that reason, some researchers still argue that it is not an essential component of a healthy diet.  They are concerned that there may be many fish oil adverse effects, due to mercury content or other impurities.  So, they don’t recommend the supplement for everyone.

Other researchers have proven that the conversion of ALA to EPA and then to DHA, which is essential for normal brain development and function, is very limited.  They have proven that ALA supplementation does not correct low blood levels of DHA, even at very high doses.

That means that the conversion process is something of an emergency procedure.  The body can do it, but it was not designed to do it on a continuous basis.

The only fish oil adverse effects that people mention are fishy tasting burps, looser stools and vivid dreams.  The benefits that they see immediately (if they choose a good supplement) include improved ability to concentrate, better mood (reduced depression), less pain in the joints, improved digestive function, improved eyesight and a general sense of well-being.

The fishy-tasting burps are caused by poor quality supplements.  The loose stools usually go away, but people are rarely constipated.  Most people find the vivid dreams pleasant.

The benefits, on the other hand, last a lifetime.  So, don’t worry about the fish oil adverse effects.  Choose a good supplement and see what happens.
